Are You A Hair Bride Or A Veil Bride?

You're a hair bride if you are thinking more about your hairstyle and not giving any thought about a veil and/or headpiece.

Tips for the hair bride:
~Have a consultation or trial style before you purchase a headpiece and veil.
~Don't become over focused on the hairstyle. Some veils/headpieces don't require a fancy do.
~Make sure someone in the bridal party will know how to take the veil out should you choose to do so.

You're a veil bride if you've purchased a veil and headpiece without giving any thought towards a hair style.

Tips for the veil bride:
~The fuller the veil, bigger the chance that it will fall forward as you visit tables during the reception.
~Everyone will want to hug the bride! Expect the veil to be tugged on accidentally.
~The veil will catch on any beading that you may have on the back of the dress.

Here are a few helpful tips if a hair stylist is coming to you!

1. Give exact, adequate directions and phone numbers. Many times brides give the directions they follow and forget the stylist may be coming from the opposite side of the highway.

2. Have a spot prepared and set up for the stylist to work. It can be a large bath room, a well lit dining room or kitchen. Put out hot pads or thick towels to protect surfaces from hot tools.

3. Don't assume the stylist can do extra people last minute. Make sure everyone who is having their hair done is mentioned ahead of time and arrives promptly.

4. Be ready yourself and allow extra time for interruptions.

Tip #6- Does your dress reflect a particular time of day? A light, airy, floral accented dress may be perfect for a morning/afternoon wedding. Pair it with a simple, lightly curled hair style and it's the perfect package!
A sparkly, sleek dress works best at night along with a dazzler of a hair style!

Tip#7- Make sure to pay attention to whether or not your dress makes you look younger or more mature. Choose a hair style that is "age appropriate".

No matter the dress, there's always the perfect hair style to complete your picture perfect bridal look!

Tip #5- Remember to keep the hair style in proportion to you. The bride with short hair and full, ornate dress must remember to balance it all out with the appropriate head piece. On the other hand, the petite bride with a lot of hair would look best wearing her hair up to draw the eye vertically.

Tips 6 & 7 to be posted tomorrow~

Tip #3- Stay true to the silhouette. If the dress has a full skirt it creates a horizontal silhouette and is best paired with a full hair style and/or layers of veiling. A straight skirt creates a vertical silhouette and goes well with a slick simple "do" or curls piled on top of the head.

Tomorrow we'll post tip #4!!

Tip #2 to letting your wedding dress guide you to the right hair style- Look at the texture of the dress. A smooth updo of curls or rolls compliments a smooth satin dress. On the other hand, a dress that is swept up in tulle is perfectly paired with soft flowing curls.

Check back tomorrow for tip #3!!

Brides, consider these following tid bits when scheduling a trial style:

Have a photo of your gown readily available so that your stylist has an idea of what hair styles will complete the "look".

Collect as many pictures of hairstyles that you like as possible. Whether they be torn pages from a magazine or printed pages from the web. You don't have to like the entire hair style, just bits and pieces. If your stylist is good, they can bring them all together!

Have your headpiece ready at the trial style. Your stylist will want to work it in as well. If you haven't decided on one yet, don't worry. Ask your stylist to help you find one to compliment your hairstyle.

Bring a friend or relative with you to be a second opinion.

Don't forget that camera!

Be sure to feel a connection with your stylist. If they are not truly interested in you and your special day, don't be afraid to try someone else!
