Mohawk Weaves

I should really try out this hair style!!! Its so lovely, different, unique and african! Please, I'm not a biased oh! It's the Mohawk hairstyle again, only that this time, its in combination with cornrow weaves (normal weavings for those of us that don't know). In Nigeria, before the existence of Mohawk, the weave version has always been know as patewo (which is the yoruba meaning of "clap").

Some of these styles can even be made for school children and younger ones like the ones below:

Mohawk with flat twists:

Mohawk with weaves:

A typical Patewo hairstyle but we can also call it a derivative of Mohawk :)

Rocking your Bun

bun is a type of hairstyle, where the hair is pulled back from the face, twisted or plaited, and wrapped in a circular coil around itself, typically on the back of the head or neck. They can either be secured with a hairpiece, a hairnet and bobby pins. It's also the normal style we call "donuts" here in Nigeria.

Puffs Puff and Knots

Hmmm.... Lets see. Today I'm talking about puff and knot hairstyles. Hairstyles like every other thing (cooking, arts, fashion) is all about creativity.

The "puff puff" hairstyle as is commonly called in Nigeria or "Ajan kolo kolo" as the Yorubas call it, is a hairstyle formally known to be made for children, people trying to grow their hair or made for cultural purposes.

However, all of these have evolved overtime and people have of course gotten more creative as shown by the pictures below:

Which of them would you make?

From the pictures, the Hairstyle has obviously evolved from the commonly known "puff puff" as shown above to "Afro puff" as shown below.

From Afro Puffs to the "Bantu Knots"

Then to the combination of weaves with knots and finally extra creativity shown by tinting the colour of
the hair!

Black is really beautiful, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think I have seen a blonde with knots. So go get creative!!!
Your confidence and the way you carry yourself will also go a long way in making you more beautiful.

Me, I'm going to get me some knots. ;)

Welcome Note

Hiya!

Hmm... Well I got the inspiration for this blog just last week Thursday! and I really hope that I am able to see it through to the end.

Anyways, how did it happen? I went to the bank o! One of these our banks here in Naija and I had to queue up as usual (rolling my eyes). There was a new staff; well I had never seen her before even though I go to that particular bank like once in three months.
She was pretty (not beautiful) but okay and I was admiring her weave. In the process, I thought to myself... how do I get series of weaves and hairstyle pictures to choose from.

...then it came to me!!! I can make it available for others; I don't have to wait for someone else to do this. Basically, I'm an internet freak, I google anything and everything you can possibly think of. So this blog is all about hairstyles, majorly Nigerian but hairstyles generally.

Welcome to www.hairstylesnaija.blogspot.com !!!
